Superior Visibility, Superior Safety

The Solterra is designed and engineered for superior visibility in all directions. The windshield, windows and rear hatch are all large, giving all passengers a great view and creating a greenhouse effect. The A-pillars and partition windows are integrated into the front doors to reduce the size of blind spots. And the side mirrors feature a large glass area and are placed on the door panels to improve visibility, forward and back.

Rearview Camera

When reverse is selected, this standard rearview camera projects a crystal-clear image of what’s behind the vehicle onto the centre console screen. The image also incorporates dynamic guidelines that indicate the direction of travel, helping to make parking situations a snap. On the Technology package, the available washer helps ensure the camera lens is always clear of dirt, mud and grime.

Panoramic View Monitor

This system uses the various cameras on the car (front-view, rearview, driver’s side and passenger side) to project a bird’s eye view composite image of the vehicle onto the centre console screen. This image enables the driver to easily and accurately back into the tightest parking space. The screen will also display another image corresponding to the view selected by the driver, either front-view, sides or rearview). Several safety systems are also linked to the Panoramic View Monitor, including the Front Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-collision system and Parking support brake, adding even more layers of safety to the picture.

EyeSight® Driver Assistance Technologies

A wide range of next-generation EyeSight® Driver Assistance Technologies come standard on all Solterra models. Employing a multitude of advanced sensors, advanced recognition software and control software, and a camera system that captures a wide-angle view of the road ahead, these technologies help identify potential danger ahead and provide assistance to the driver when needed most. This suite of EyeSight® Driver Assistance Technologies incorporates Pre-Collision System, Acceleration Suppression at Low Speed, Parking Support Brake, Road Sign Assist (RSA) with speed limiter, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with prevention, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Emergency Steering Assist, and Intersection Collision Avoidance Support. With these technologies standing guard, every drive is safer and more secure.

Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert

The standard Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) systems have two distinct and important functions. BSM identifies vehicles hidden from view in blind spots, especially vehicles approaching at speed, an extremely useful feature when changing lanes on a multi-lane highway. When reversing out of a parking space or driveway, RCTA triggers a warning signal when any vehicles, cyclists, scooters or pedestrians approach from either the left or right.

Safe Exit Assist (SEA)

A great addition to the Subaru suite of advanced safety technology, Safe Exit Assist utilizes the Blind Spot Monitor indicator in the driver’s side mirror to warn if a bicycle or vehicle is approaching. The mirror indicator light flashes, a warning appears in the information display and a buzzer sounds before the driver can open the door into the path of a potential incident. This system is standard on all Solterra models.

Reverse Automatic Braking

Standard on all Solterra models, this system automatically applies the brakes whenever the chances of colliding with someone or something behind the vehicle are high. The system also incorporates a rear obstruction warning feature, which signals drivers with different alarm patterns according to how close the obstruction is to the vehicle.

Automatic High Beam (AHB)

Standard on all Solterra models, the AHB feature automatically controls when the high beams switch on and off. When the system detects an oncoming vehicle or the distance to the vehicle in front has reduced, the high beams automatically switch off. When other vehicles are far enough away, the high beams switch on again. This convenient feature helps ensure you’re always driving with the best possible lighting at all times.

Braking System

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) on the Solterra incorporates the latest active safety technology to give drivers an added sense of security and confidence behind the wheel. For example, Electronic Brake-force Distribution automatically adjusts front/rear brake pressure based on the weight of the passengers and cargo aboard the vehicle. Brake Override cuts power from the motors when the gas and brake pedals are applied at the same time, while Brake Assist automatically boosts stopping power in emergency situations. Lastly, Brake Hold helps keep your vehicle at a standstill even when you take your foot off the brake pedal.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)

This advanced system, standard on all Solterra models, utilizes multiple sensors to monitor vehicle dynamics, assess road conditions and determine whether the vehicle is following its intended course. When the vehicle nears the limits of stability, the VSC^ automatically adjusts the AWD torque distribution, electric motor output and braking force at each wheel to help keep the vehicle on-course. The system also incorporates Active Cornering Assist, which automatically brakes the inside front wheel and sends more torque to the outside front wheel when cornering. These systems give drivers of all abilities the feeling of added security and increased confidence under all possible driving conditions.

All-around protection—all the time

The 2024 Subaru Solterra features an array of advanced passive safety systems that are engineered to work in concert to create class-leading levels of protection. The e-Subaru Global Platform is the starting point—and it’s the strongest platform ever built by Subaru. This work of genius sets the stage for an ultra-strong frame that envelopes all occupants and the battery pack like a suit of armour. In the event that an accident proves unavoidable, the frame and other passive safety systems work together to reduce the chance of injury, divert impact forces away from the passenger cabin and battery pack, and ensure greater peace of mind.

Advanced Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame

This proprietary advanced frame design—engineered specifically for the Solterra—incorporates the liberal use of high-strength material, which creates stronger joints and a superior structure overall. In the event of an accident, the frame channels impact energy coming from all directions, then absorbs, dissipates and diverts it away from the passenger compartment and battery pack. The battery pack is further protected from impact energy coming from the road below by strategically placed panelling. Lastly, ultra-tough bumper beams and a reinforced counterforce support provide protection in all types of collisions, including a rollover.

Airbags

The Subaru Solterra comes equipped with a full complement of supplemental restraints as standard equipment. This all-encompassing approach to passive safety includes dual-stage deployment front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags with roll-over sensors for front and rear outboard occupants, and knee airbags for the front seats.

Injury-Reducing Seats and Seatbelt Systems

With superior safety in mind, the front seats are constructed using ultra-strong frames, energy-absorbing mountings and active headrests to reduce the chance of whiplash in the event of a collision. Height-adjustable for maximum protection, the front seatbelts feature pretensioners, load limiters and a locking tongue system for the waist belt. The rear outboard seatbelts also feature pretensioners and load limiters to ease peak forces to the chest and the locking tongue system to better restrain occupants and reduce the chance of injury. To protect younger passengers riding in compatible child safety seats, the ISO FIX/LATCH system features lower anchor bars positioned for easy access.
